My name is Andrew Blair, and I am a poet, performer and journalist based in East Lothian. I am available for Live Literature events in Scotland.
I’ve developed theatre and poetry shows at a grassroots level (writing, editing, producing tech scripts and sound effects), and also produce a monthly spoken word podcast. I writes for websites such as Den of Geek and Cultbox, contributing features, reviews and interviews that covered major film festivals.
I’ve featured regularly at nights across Glasgow and Edinburgh (such as Flint & Pitch, Sonnet Youth, and Loud Poets), with my work appearing regularly across Scottish journals and magazine. My debut collection – An Intense Young Man at an Open Mic Night – was published by House of 3 in 2017. It is now out of print.
My work focuses absurdity and melancholy, on repressed male anger and ego, on inanity and coping mechanisms. Also I am wide about poetry quite a lot.
I am currently developing and producing poetry shows in collaboration with Ross McCleary, using these and the podcast to provide a platform for other artists. This allows us to take silly things very seriously indeed, such as our collaboration with Interrobang?! – ‘The Ambassador’s Reception’ – a spoken word murder mystery set during a Ferrero Rocher advert.
I can also tell you the cheapest way to bulk buy Ferrero Rocher, should that need ever arise.
